This webinar, hosted by Tamara Hubbard, LCPC, of the Academy of Food Allergy Counseling with Alice Hoyt, M.D., a board certified allergist, focuses on helping food allergy-informed counselors support clients in navigating allergy care.
Objectives
-
Identify the qualifications and roles of board-certified allergists in food allergy care, distinguishing them from other providers who may offer less specialized guidance.
-
Analyze case scenarios where clients receive conflicting or non-evidence-based allergy advice, and determine strategies for addressing these situations while maintaining professional referral relationships.
-
Apply evidence-based communication strategies—such as open-ended questioning, shared decision-making, and psychosocial evaluation tools—to empower clients in navigating their allergy care and advocating for appropriate treatment.
*This course awards 1 credit hour upon completion.
