Enroll in this lesson to learn about food allergy conditions from board-certified allergist Dr. Alice Hoyt.

1. Define the terms food allergy, food intolerance, and anaphylaxis, and distinguish among IgE-mediated, non-IgE-mediated, and mixed food allergies.

2. Illustrate how mast cells and IgE antibodies function in allergic reactions and apply this knowledge to explain why IgE-mediated allergies may result in severe outcomes like anaphylaxis.

3.Compare and evaluate different food allergy treatment approaches (OIT, SLIT, EPIT) and analyze their role in building immune tolerance and patient safety.
